New Years Resolutions

Are you making any New Years Resolutions this year? Resolutions are traditionally made early on Jan 1 and often broken by Jan 2. How do you keep those resolutions that will improve your health and well being? Make long term goals, but plan on keeping them in shorter steps. If you want lose 25 pounds, set your goal for 5 pounds a month. Don't plan on running a marathon in a month. Set your goal to be able to run 2 full blocks without stopping by the end of 2 weeks. Resolutions that are unreasonable will be unattainable. Set small goals for big rewards. Check out this advice from Leonard Holmes About.com guide to Mental Health on being able to stick to your goals.

How to Make New Years Resolutions Stick

I'd like to know what your resolutions are. Please fill out this short poll below. You can compare your resolutions with everyone else. Better yet log onto the Senior Health forum from the Senior Health introduction page. Tell everyone what your goals are for the New Year. Then you can come back and update everyone on your progress. I assure you will get the encouragement you need to keep heading towards your goal. I have a goal I am sharing with everyone. Please come give me encouragement.

Whatever your goal or plans for this New Year my best wishes to you. I hope we can build a supportive community of people here trying to stay healthy. Happy New Year!!
