Medicare News - Drug Prices
The 2003 Medicare modernization law added prescription drug coverage to Medicare. It also prevents any price negotiation for drugs purchased by seniors under the program. Many polititions and others see this as a grave mistake that will drive up drug prices and doom this law in the future. Even the AMA (American Medical Association) advocates a change to the law to allow lower prices to be negotiated (plans similar to those in place for Medicaid and the VA).
What do you think? Like most seniors are you looking at increased prescription drug use over the next few years? Do you think the law should be changed to allow quantity buying discounts or price negotiation?
