Senior Gift Guide
Are you in a quandary about what to give those seniors on your list this holiday gift-giving season? Here are a few suggestions for gifts that will be well appreciated, healthy and hopefully won't break your budget.
Books
Books are always appropriate for a thoughtful gift. From the latest best seller, to special interest books you should be able to find something for almost everyone on your list. For that senior with slight vision loss many books are available in large print versions. For the senior with more profound vision loss, books on tape may be the answer. Order books online and they can be delivered directly to the recipient. You can even have a gift card sent. This is a great alternative to the crowded malls. Here are two books I would suggest:
John Glenn: A Memoir
The Greatest Generation - by Tom Brokaw
These books come in audiocassette form also. I have also reviewed several health related books that might be of interest:

Travel
Seniors seem to have more time to travel, the kids are grown and they are retired or semi-retired. A really thoughtful gift might be a well-deserved trip this year. Online travel bargains abound. Many tour agencies cater to the older traveler. Check out these links to travel for seniors:

Gift Certificates
Still not sure what to get? Many companies offer gift certificates that can be used online. Here are several sites that have information about gifts for those with special interests:
Gardener's Supply Company
Gardening is great exercise. This will be a thoughtful gift for the gardener.
Golf Gifts
Golf is another favorite fitness activity for seniors. Let that golfer get somtehing he needs or wants without guessing.
Hand Tied Flies
Perfect gift idea for the fly fisherman.
