Starting a Fitness Program at Any Age
Carol Holt is closer to 60 than 50, a mother of 2, grandmother of 2 and a career woman. She has also become an avid fitness buff and has just this year participated in her first triathlon. Like many adults fitness has not always played such a big part in her life. Raising children and work always seemed to come first.
About 20 years ago while working as an nurse in an ICU, she had an experience that jolted her into realizing how important fitness is. She looked after a woman the same age as herself who had suffered from heart attack. The woman eventually died. She was overweight (about 20-30 lbs.) and out of shape. It was an eye-opening experience. Carol has been a regular walker and runner since then. This year she started to get really serious about her running. She is presently training for an Ironman event.
Carol says she has never felt better. She encourages everyone to get started on a fitness program. She feels the most important thing we can do, is to take care of our health, by staying fit. To help you get started, I asked her to share some resources she has found helpful.
