Living with vision loss is a challenge, especially for seniors who may have other health problems to deal with also. With support and assistive adaptations the person with vision loss can maintain independence and dignity. There are numerous resources out there to help improve vision or in helping to adapt to vision loss.
The amount of assistance required will depend on the degree of vision loss. The person who retains peripheral vision but has lost the central part of the visual field can re-learn to read. Instead of moving the eyes to scan a page of printed information they can learn to move the page to keep the new information in the retained visual field.
