The Nutrition Program For The Elderly

    What does the program provide?

Under NPE, the Department of Agriculture provides cash reimbursements and/or commodity foods to State agencies, which pass them on to agencies or organizations that serve meals through Department of Health and Human Services programs.

In order to qualify for cash or commodity assistance, meals served must meet a specified percentage of the nutrients prescribed by the Recommended Dietary Allowances.
