Letter To Your Elected Official

Dear ____________;

As my elected official for the State of ___________ I am encouraging you to either sponsor or support legislation that would ensure fair and equitable drug pricing for all Americans.

It is a shameful situation that Americans are forced to pay a much higher price for drugs than in any other country in the world. It is shameful, that those Americans with out prescription drug coverage are forced to decide between buying drugs and buying food. It is shameful, that some drug companies are making profits on drugs that are marked up over 700% for Americans who may not taking the recommended dosage because they cannot afford it. It is shameful, that the pharmaceutical industry spends more money on marketing a drug than on the research that goes into making a safe and effective drug - and this includes the $40 million dollars they spent on ads this last to tell us how much it takes to develop a new drug. It is shameful, the amount of money in direct and indirect campaign money they give to you and other elected officials in order to prevent any legislation that would regulate the price of drugs and reduce their profits to a reasonable amount.

I would encourage you to support legislation that would lower drug prices in the United States. This is an important issue to myself and to most other Americans. As a voter I will remember your stand on this issue during the next election and I am encouraging all my friends to contact their elected officials about this issue also.

Yours Truly
