Question - What could be causing a decrease in my urine stream force?:

I am 66 years of age. For a few years I have noticed that when I urinate there has been a steady decrease in the force of the stream of urine until now it as if it is barely running out. What causes this and is there any treatment?

Guide Responds:

I would suggest you see your physician for a physical, which should include an examination of your prostate. Enlargement of the prostate gland is very common in men over the age of 55 and can cause a narrowing of the urethra. This may be the cause but needs to be confirmed by your physician who can also evaluate need for treatment.

You'll also find it helpful to talk with others who may have similar experiences or problems. The best places to do that are our Forums and Chatroom.
