Question - Are all wounds pressure ulcers?:
Are all wounds pressure ulcers? For instance, if a patient has a foley catheter and the tubing is left on the upper leg for several hours - the area turns red and unblanchable, then progresses to a wound after several days - wound this wound be staged as a true pressure ulcer even though it didn't occur over a bony prominence?

This would be considered a pressure ulcer. Pressure ulcers generally occur over bony prominences but not in all cases. Any situation in which the circulation is compromised can result in a pressure ulcer.
