Fruit Juice May Prevent Alzheimer's Disease

Friday September 1, 2006
A study published in the American Journal of Medicine finds that seniors who drink fruit or vegetable juices at lease three times a week lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease by 76 percent. The researchers credit the high levels of polyphenols in juices as being responsible for these findings. The antioxidant action of polyphenols (found mainly in the skins of fruits and vegetables) is well noted in other studies.

I would very much like to drink fruit juices (hate plain water!) but my GP has told me not to. What shall I do instead?

I would certainly press your GP as to why you SHOULD NOT DRINK 3 OR 4 GLASSES of vegie or fruit juice per week.I would be very interested in his answer.

Actually, I am not fond of water. So juice is definitely fine. But won’t I have any problem with hyperacidity in that case?
