Stress Ages Your Brain

Tuesday August 15, 2006
New research from Rockefeller University in New York City finds that stress causes brain cells to shrink and age at a faster rate than normal. This could translate into a shorter life. However, there is hope in our stressful world. Researchers also state that the damage can be healed with some changes.

The authors of the study suggest that psychotherapy, behavior modification and drug therapy if indicated could help reduce the stress the brain has to deal with. In addition, exercise and diet are also important in fighting the negative effects of stress in our lives.
