Humidity and Your Heart

Friday July 14, 2006
Summertime and heat and humidity seem to go hand in hand. For most it is just uncomfortable but for seniors it can be deadly. A new study from Greece found that the number of fatal heart attacks increased when the humidity was high. It seems when heat waves hit seniors are the group that suffers the most.Keep an eye on the weather and limit your outdoor activity on those days when the temperatures are at their highest. Be sure to drink lots of water. If you are younger, be sure to check in with your loved ones to be sure they are OK when the weather is a risk.

(1) Ashwini Dube says:

Hello
If you look at people in hot tropical countries much less people suffer from heart attacks (statistically). On the contrary, many physicians have recommended patients living in cold countries to move to warmer regions for better bones and blood circulation. I think heat and humidity is always better than dry cold weather where people complain of joint pain, poor circulation, etc. This way nature provides our skin all the moisturizers, and our blood vessels expand working at full capacity!

Thanks
Dube
