Preventing Falls
Monday April 3, 2006
When a senior falls the results can be devastating. Many seniors suffer from ostoporosis, a condition that weakens bone and leads to bone fractures. Falls can also lead to head injury. Seniors are at greater risk of falling if they have a condition such as balance disorders or poor eyesight. Most falls occur in the home.
Preventing falls is very important in helping seniors stay safe and independent as the years pass. Making the home safe for seniors does not need to be costly or complicated. Most modifications to ensure safety in the home are a matter of common sense and can be carried out easily by family members.
