Alzheimer's Disease a Threat to Medicare
Monday July 19, 2004
Experts are predicting that the cost of care for patients with Alzheimer's disease will overwhelm Medicare and Medicaid by the year 2050 as the number of people with the disease increases. They estimate that without a cure or effective treatment there will be 16 million Americans suffering from the disease. Medicare costs for treating Alzheimer's disease is three times the average spent on other health related problems.
