Saturday January 17, 2004
In response to critisism of it's suppport of the contriversial Medicare prescription drug package, AARP stated that they will push for changes in the bill. These changes include re-importation of medications from Canada and measures that would allow Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices for seniors under the plan. It is reported that nearly 50,000 seniors cancelled their membership in AARP because of its support of the Republican sponsored bill.
